Complex scenes will have some small detailed pieces that can easily be lost when the larger objects are moved. Using groups, you can combine these smaller objects with the larger pieces that they need to move with. Another common headache is being able to select and move objects when the scene has multiple overlapping objects. To help overcome this, SketchUp includes the ability to hide and lock objects.

  • Grouping objects and entities
  • Editing and exploding groups
  • Hiding and unhiding objects and entities
  • Locking and unlocking objects

This chapter concludes the basic working with objects section, and you’re ready to start drawing custom objects with the Drawing tools, which is covered in the next chapter.
